Aug 25, 2020 9:19 AM

Triller, a US-based photo and video sharing app, and JioSaavn, a streaming platform for South Asian music and audio entertainment, have entered a long-term exclusive partnership. Earlier this year, JioSaavn announced a New "Living Search" with recommendations and Shorties - 15 second looping visuals to accompany select tracks.

Over the next few months, JioSaavn will integrate with Triller, giving users access to exclusive latter’s video content from top artists and songs.

The long-term model is to create a collaborative and cross-channel stream. Modules and Artist Pages on JioSaavn and Triller Shorties in the player will include artist callouts and branding for Triller. Users will also have an opportunity to record their own videos for a chance to have it appear on JioSaavn

“Both Triller and JioSaavn have paved way as disruptors in the global music industry. We are very excited about this development as our partnership will pioneer a fresh format of ‘collective discovery’ for new-age content creators in India,” mentions Mike Lu, CEO, Triller.

He added, “Internationally, Triller already has licensing partnerships with the majority of the top studios, including Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Universal, allowing users to create content with an extensive catalog of music. This association is a step forward in localizing and personalising our app’s appeal to the Indian ecosystem.”

Triller is an AI-powered music video app that allows users to create professional-looking videos in a matter of seconds and currently claims to have recorded over 250 million globally

Rishi Malhotra, co-founder and CEO of JioSaavn, said, “We have built a user-centric and data driven platform with a focus on consumer experience and groundbreaking original content. As we grow, we are committed to advancing our world class product; always at the intersection of music and entertainment."

"Connecting creators to millions of fans is at the core of everything we do. Our cross-platform collaboration with TRILLER enables artists to create and express our culture in the most innovative ways. We are confident that this partnership will exponentially grow both companies”

Founded in 2007 as Saavn, JioSaavn is an audio streaming service for South Asian music and artists. In March 2018, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) acquired a majority stake in JioSaavn, and as of today, the app has over 900 label partnerships which includes Universal, Sony, T-Series, Tips, YRF, Saregama and Warner Music.

Recently, TRILLER announced the strategic appointment of Raj Mishra as Country Manager and Head of Operations for India, who was the former Country Manager at TikTok India, erstwhile Musical.ly
