05:27 PM EDT, 09/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- PMET Resources ( PMETF ) said Wednesday it successfully produced marketable tantalite concentrates from bench-scale testwork on its CV5 pegmatite at the Shaakichiuwaanaan project in Quebec.
The work utilized dense media separation (DMS) waste stream fractions and simple, low-cost processing methods, and two master composites were tested, with results broadly in line with those of industry peers.
Shaakichiuwaanaan is one of the larger tantalum-bearing pegmatite resources globally, with reported Indicated mineral resources and Inferred resources combined with lithium and caesium for the CV5 + CV13 pegmatites.
"A follow-up testwork program is scheduled to commence shortly, which will target data collection sufficient to support the inclusion of the tantalum co-product opportunity at Shaakichiuwaanaan, with a view to further enhance the economic and financial returns of the Project," Executive VP of Exploration Darren L. Smith said, .
As the company advances the lithium-only feasibility study on CV5, expected in 4-6 weeks, the tantalum discovery offers potential upside as a co-product value stream.
Shares of PMET Resources ( PMETF ) closed up $0.25, or 6.4%, to $4.13 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
