04:40 AM EST, 11/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Pony.ai (PONT) said Tuesday it introduced its fourth-generation autonomous truck lineup developed with partners including SANY Truck for planned large-scale deployment in 2026.
The new system will use only automotive-grade components, is expected to cut the bill of materials per vehicle by about 70% versus the prior generation, and is designed for a service life of 20,000 hours or up to 1 million kilometers, the company said.
The first two models will be built on battery electric platforms and are aimed at mass production in the thousands of units, with initial fleets expected on the road in 2026, Pony.ai said.
In addition, the company said that in China trials, a "1+4" platooning setup, with one human-driven lead truck and four driverless followers, showed reduced freight cost per kilometer by 29% and cut per-vehicle carbon emissions by about 60 tons a year.
