08:51 AM EDT, 05/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Popular (BPOP) said Friday that Javier Ferrer has been named president in addition to his current role as chief operating officer.

Ferrer was also named president of Popular's two subsidiaries, Banco Popular de Puerto Rico and Popular Bank, the company said.

The appointments were effective on Thursday.

Popular shares were 5% higher in recent premarket trading.
