08:06 AM EST, 01/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- RTX-owned (RTX) Pratt & Whitney has informed Latvian airline airBaltic that several of its A220-300 aircraft will remain grounded into 2025 due to an engine shortage, which forced the air carrier to cancel 19 routes and reduce frequencies on 21 others across its bases, airBaltic said on Thursday.
AirBaltic said it is cancelling a total of 4,670 flights from all of its bases for the 2025 summer season due to "the engine manufacturer's inability to meet its timely maintenance obligations."
The airline said it is working closely with Pratt & Whitney "to resolve the maintenance delays and find a sustainable solution."
Pratt & Whitney did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
