- British paper and packaging firm Mondi ( MNODF ) has agreed

to buy the German, Benelux and UK packaging assets of Schumacher

Packaging for 634 million euros ($693.79 million) including

debt, to expand in Western Europe.

The Guardian

- British drugmaker GSK has struck an agreement to

make a payment of up to $2.2 billion to resolve litigation

brought in the U.S. over its heartburn treatment Zantac.

Sky News

- Lenders holding 12 billion pounds ($15.69 billion) of

Thames Water's debt have held face-to-face talks with Ofwat this

week to pitch a rescue deal that they believe would avert the

nationalisation of Britain's biggest water utility.
