Procter & Gamble Recalling 8.2 Million Defective Bags of Laundry Detergent Packets in US
Apr 5, 2024 7:56 AM

10:34 AM EDT, 04/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Procter & Gamble ( PG ) said Friday it's launching a voluntary recall of 8.2 million defective bags of Tide, Gain, Ace and Ariel laundry detergent packets distributed in the US due to risk of serious injury.

The defective bags can split open near the zipper track, posing injury risk to people if the contents are ingested, the company said, adding it will refund clients and replace the affected packages.

There were "no confirmed cases of incidents or injuries directly relating to this packaging defect," the company said, adding that it received four reports of children in the US who accessed the laundry packets, and three of them ingested the product during the period when the recalled lots were sold.

"It is not known if these laundry packets came from recalled bags," the company said.
