Profound Medical Says U.S. Medicare Releases Final Rule For TULSA Reimbursement
Nov 4, 2024 11:41 AM

08:05 AM EST, 11/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Profound Medical ( PROF ) a medical device company, on Monday said that the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released its final rule establishing a Category 1 CPT code for the Transurethral Ultrasound Ablation (TULSA) procedure, effective January 1.

TULSA will now have three codes to cover how therapy is delivered. Furthermore, payment associated with the codes will only cover the work performed on the day TULSA is performed, the company said.

Codes have also been assigned to all three sites of service specifically for prostate treatment: Hospital Outpatient, Ambulatory Surgical Center, and Private Office/Non-Facility.

The TULSA-PRO device enables incision-free therapies for the ablation of diseased tissue.
