Oct 29 (Reuters) - Prudential Financial ( PRU ) reported
a rise in third-quarter profit on Wednesday as it was helped by
strong underwriting in its international business and investment
gains.
Shares of the company, which have lost about 15% in 2025,
were up 2.8% trading after the bell.
Its international businesses posted an adjusted operating
income of $881 million, compared with $766 million a year
earlier.
Prudential has a diversified business model that also
includes an investment management business, where assets under
management came in at $1.61 trillion in the third quarter,
compared with $1.56 trillion a year ago.
PGIM, Prudential's global investment management business,
reported an adjusted operating income of $244 million, compared
with $241 million a year earlier.
Prudential's adjusted operating income, after-tax, came in
at $1.52 billion, or $4.26 per share, compared with $1.21
billion, or $3.33 per share in the year ago period.
