Prudential Financial Sued for Allegedly Failing to Protect Users' Data

02:08 PM EDT, 06/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Prudential Financial ( PRU ) is facing a lawsuit for allegedly failing to protect the personal information of about 36,545 individuals following a cybersecurity breach in early February, according to a court filing Friday.

The cyberattack resulted in the unauthorized access of a "small percentage of company user accounts associated with employees and contractors," Prudential Financial ( PRU ) said in a February disclosure to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Minnesota resident Constance Boyd is seeking a jury trial, as well as damages and remediation efforts from Prudential Financial ( PRU ), in a complaint filed in the US District Court for the District Court of New Jersey.

Prudential Financial ( PRU ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
