08:42 AM EDT, 10/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Qualcomm ( QCOM ) said late Monday it introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a new mobile platform using the company's Oryon central processing unit, to support on-device artificial intelligence performance.

The company said that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset is designed to support on-device generative AI with multi-modal AI applications. The platform includes upgraded components such as the Qualcomm Adreno GPU and Hexagon NPU.

Smartphone brands, including Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, ASUS and Honor among others, will release devices featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite "in the coming weeks," Qualcomm ( QCOM ) said.
