QuantumScape, Volkswagen Group's PowerCo Unveil QS Solid-State Batteries

07:59 AM EDT, 09/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- QuantumScape ( QS ) and Volkswagen Group's battery company PowerCo have unveiled the QS solid-state lithium-metal batteries at an event in Germany, according to a Monday statement.

The battery technology was demonstrated in a Ducati motorcycle that uses QSE-5 battery cells, which were produced using the QS Cobra production process, QuantumScape ( QS ) said.

According to the company, the QS batteries are designed for electric vehicles.

QuantumScape ( QS ) also said it recently expanded its strategic collaboration and licensing arrangement with PowerCo, now covering up to $131 million in new milestone-based payments over the next two years.

QuantumScape ( QS ) shares were up more than 13% in recent premarket activity Monday.
