Quebec's Provincial Budget Is Likely to Deteriorate, Says Scotiabank
Mar 25, 2025 6:46 AM

09:27 AM EDT, 03/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Quebec provincial government in Canada will release its 2025-26 (FY26) budget after the market closes on Tuesday, said Scotibank.

In its 2024-25 mid-year update, the Canadian province projected a $9.2 billion deficit for FY26, including a small net contingency budget of $800 million, or about 0.5% of revenues.

Given the intensified risks in the economic outlook and new tariff-related program spending -- including low-cost loans to affected businesses -- announced by the government earlier this month, BMO expects some deterioration in Quebec's fiscal outlook relative to what was last updated in November.
