07:23 AM EDT, 03/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Canada will release retail sales for January on Friday, at 8:30 a.m. ET, noted RBC.
Canadian retail sales are expected to contract by 0.4% month over month in January, following robust growth in the previous month, said the bank. This decline is primarily attributed to a "significant" 9% reduction in unit auto sales, partially offset by higher sales at gasoline stations due to price increases.
