RBC Previews This Week's Macroeconomic Data in Canada
May 26, 2025 5:48 AM

08:28 AM EDT, 05/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Canada will release wholesale sales for March and manufacturing sales for March on Thursday, noted RBC.

Canadian manufacturing and wholesale sales likely declined by 1.9% month over month and 0.3% month over month, respectively in March, aligned with Statistics Canada's preliminary estimates, said the bank. Lower oil prices and weaker demand tied to steel and aluminum tariffs likely contributed to manufacturing weakness.

Advanced regional data shows continued cooling in Canada's home resale market in April. Most markets experienced annual sales declines with increasing price pressures, stated RBC. National resale data this week is expected to confirm these trends.

Canada's house starts and home resales for April will be published also on Thursday.
