09:23 AM EDT, 09/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Canada will publish retail sales for July and preliminary data for August on Friday, noted RBC.
The early estimate of Canadian July retail sales was down 0.8% month over month -- partially retracing a 1.5% month-over-month increase in June and with details that the bank expects will remain broadly consistent with resilient consumer spending trends in the spring extending into the summer.
RBC predicts core -- excluding the volatile motor vehicle and gasoline components -- was stronger with sales at both auto dealerships and gasoline stations tracking lower in July.
