06:52 AM EDT, 10/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Red Cat Holdings ( RCAT ) said Monday it completed flight tests of Palantir's ( PLTR ) Visual Navigation software on its Black Widow drone used in the US Army's Short Range Reconnaissance program.
The software enabled navigation without GPS availability using onboard cameras and sensors and required no new hardware, the company said.
Tests showed reliable flight at low altitude and in low light, with a mean position error of about seven meters using Vnav, a system that relies on visual cues and inertial data to estimate the drone's location, Red Cat ( RCAT ) said.
Integration with the flight controller was validated, and a simulated reconnaissance mission was flown start to finish without GPS or pilot input, the company added.
Red Cat ( RCAT ) and Palantir ( PLTR ) are preparing a formal Army demonstration and a productized version of the software for all fielded Black Widow systems, it said.
Shares of Red Cat ( RCAT ) were up 7%, while shares of Palantir ( PLTR ) increased by over 1.8% in recent Monday premarket activity.
