08:14 AM EDT, 05/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Redwire ( RDW ) said Wednesday it has formed a coalition that will fund research projects focusing on using artificial intelligence in space operations.

Redwire ( RDW ) is one of the two corporate sponsors of the Center for AEroSpace Autonomy Research, or CAESAR, at Stanford University, which aims to leverage various disciplines including AI and machine learning to advance autonomous reasoning in space vehicles.

Redwire ( RDW ) said it seeks to leverage the coalition to expand AI investments in machine learning, computer vision, and other techniques "to develop the ability to autonomously detect, characterize, and navigate around known and unknown objects in space."

Redwire ( RDW ) plans to integrate AI into its technology portfolio, including modeling and simulation, robotics technology, satellite servicing, intelligent vision systems, and in future work on power management and avionics, the statement said.
