10:37 AM EDT, 05/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- ResMed ( RMD ) said Thursday new findings showed that positive airway pressure therapy decreased risks of death and hospitalization for people with obstructive sleep apnea.
ResMed ( RMD ) said several studies supported by the firm were presented at the American Thoracic Society International Conference, including a trial showing 37% lower mortality on average in patients with the PAP therapy versus untreated patients.
The medical equipment company also said that a study explored the relationship between anti-obesity drugs like glucagon-like peptide-1 and PAP therapy in people with obstructive sleep apnea.
"The use of GLP-1s did not lead to higher discontinuation rates of PAP therapy, rather this analysis found that patients who were adherent to their GLP-1 medication had higher levels of PAP therapy use than those who were non-adherent to their GLP-1 medication," the company said.
