RIL AGM: Reliance Jio's IoT platform to be available from Jan 1, 2020

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said telecom unit Reliance Jio will kick start four new sources of growth: Internet of things (IoT), broadband services for home, small and medium businesses and large enterprises. Reliance Jio's IoT platform will be available beginning January 1, 2020, announced Ambani at RIL's 42nd annual general meeting on Monday.

Reliance Jio aims to connect 1 billion homes on Jio IoT platform

The investment cycle of Reliance Jio is complete, and about Rs 3.5 lakh crore has been invested in high-speed 4G network

Wireless technology is already 4G+ and Jio can upgrade to 5G at minimal cost

"Today Jio’s customer base has crossed 340 million users. And still we are signing up more than 10 million new customers each month."

"The potential for growth is immense and half a billion customers, is now I believe well within our reach," said Ambani

Jio has become the largest operator in India and the 2nd largest operator in the world operating in a single country

2 billion IoT connected devices expected in 2 years in the country

Revenue opportunity of Rs 20,000 crore
