12:52 PM EDT, 08/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Rio Tinto (RIO) and BHP's (BHP) Resolution Copper mining project in Arizona is facing a temporary administrative injunction issued by a US Appeals Court, according to a court filing Monday.

The US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit temporarily prevented federal officials from completing the land transfer needed for the project while it considers the merits of appeals from the San Carlos Apache tribe and environmental groups to block the transfer, according to the filing.

Rio Tinto and BHP did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
