06:17 AM EDT, 10/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Rio Tinto Group (RIO) said Wednesday that it had completed the acquisition of Mitsubishi's roughly 12% stake in Boyne Smelters on Monday.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Boyne Smelters owns and operates the Boyne Island aluminum smelter in Gladstone, Australia, Rio Tinto said.

Rio Tinto said it now owns 71% stake in Boyne Smelters following the completion of the deal.
