07:01 AM EST, 11/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Rio Tinto (RIO) said Friday it is partnering with the Wildlife Conservation Society and Everland to invest $16 million in Madagascar's Makira Natural Park REDD+ Project.

With the commitment, Rio Tinto intends to reduce operational emissions and invest in and develop high-integrity nature-based solutions, it added.

Shares of the company were up 1% in recent Friday premarket activity.
