09:51 AM EST, 01/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Riot Platforms ( RIOT ) said Friday that it has acquired land it had previously leased at its Rockdale site in Milam County, Texas, and signed a data center lease with Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) .

The company said it paid $96 million for the 200 acres of land at the Rockdale site, which was paid with the proceeds from the sale of 1,080 bitcoin. The site includes a 700 MW interconnection to the grid, which Riot said it plans to convert for data center tenants.

The data center lease it signed with Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ) has an initial term of 10 years and is expected to generate $311 million in contract revenue, the company said. Riot also said it has the option for three five-year extensions that could raise the total expected contract revenue to $1 billion.

Shares of Riot were up more than 8% in recent trading.
