01:42 PM EDT, 07/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Rivian Automotive ( RIVN ) chief executive RJ Scaringe ruled out the adoption of Apple's (AAPL) CarPlay in the automaker's vehicles.
Speaking on a podcast with The Verge, Scaringe said that Apple's CarPlay, which mirrors a user's iPhone in their car, was not "consistent with how we think about really creating a pure product experience."
Scaringe also said that the iPhone maker's app could not "leverage other parts of the vehicle experience," which requires users to switch out of CarPlay instead.
Scaringe said the automaker was working on adding features that customers desired within CarPlay instead.
"We recognize that it'll take us time to fully capture every feature that's in CarPlay, and hopefully, customers are seeing that. I think it often gets more noise than it deserves," Scaringe said.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
