Robinhood Says No 'Imminent Plans' to Launch Cryptocurrency Futures Offerings
Jul 2, 2024 10:25 AM

12:49 PM EDT, 07/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Robinhood Markets ( HOOD ) said Tuesday it has no "imminent plans" to launch cryptocurrency futures offerings.

"We have no imminent plans to launch these offerings," a Robinhood spokesperson told MT Newswires.

Bloomberg reported earlier in the day that Robinhood was exploring launching cryptocurrency futures in the US and Europe in the coming months.

Robinhood expects to use Bitstamp's licenses to offer perpetual futures for Bitcoin and other tokens in Europe after its $200 million acquisition of Bitstamp closes next year, people familiar with the company's plan reportedly told Bloomberg.

In the US, the company reportedly plans to introduce CME-based futures for Bitcoin and Ether. Discussions are ongoing and final plans may change, sources were quoted as saying by Bloomberg.

Shares of the company were down 2.4% in recent trading.
