Robo.ai Subsidiary to Co-Develop Smart, Autonomous EVs With Dubai-Based W Motors

08:38 AM EDT, 10/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Robo.ai ( AIIO ) said Thursday that its subsidiary, Astra Mobility Meta, has signed a deal with Dubai-based W Motors to jointly develop and produce a new line of intelligent electric and autonomous vehicles for last-mile delivery and other commercial uses.

As part of the agreement, the company said W Motors plans to purchase at least 30,000 of the vehicles from Astra over the next five years, following successful development and testing.

The program includes full design, development, and production, with Astra leading the technical side and W Motors handling local assembly at its Dubai facility, the company said.

A proof-of-concept vehicle is expected within three months, with production starting in 2026 and expansion planned across the Gulf region, the company said.

Financial terms of the collaboration were not disclosed.

Shares of Robo.ai ( AIIO ) were up by more than 5% in Thursday's premarket activity.
