Rosenberg Research Notes Canadians Are Ditching Vacations, Trips to The U.S.
Apr 8, 2025 5:20 AM

08:03 AM EDT, 04/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Canadians are well ahead of their politicians in striking back against United States President Donald Trump's tariffs, said Rosenberg Research.

And not just by intentionally boycotting U.S. goods but by "dramatically" slashing their trips and vacations to the U.S. -- which touched US$2 trillion and 20 million jobs in Canada's southern neighbor, noted Rosenberg Research.

In February, the number of Canadians returning by auto from south of the border collapsed 23% year over year to 1.2 million. Airlines are seeing a huge pullback in cross-border bookings and a wave of cancellations.

Florida, Nevada and Arizona are feeling the heat the most -- tourism promotion agencies report that they are fielding calls "almost every day" from regular visitors reconsidering trips to the Sunshine State, pointed out Rosenberg.
