Royal Air Maroc to receive first aircraft from 2028, CEO says
Nov 4, 2025 10:26 AM

RABAT, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Moroccan national carrier Royal

Air Maroc (RAM) expects to begin receiving aircraft from a major

fleet expansion tender in 2028, CEO Abdelhamid Addou said on

Tuesday.

The tender launched in April 2024 is for up to 200 aircraft

by 2037 and the company is evaluating offers from Boeing ( BA ),

Airbus and Embraer ( EMBJ ), Addou said.

"The tender is currently being finalised," Addou told

reporters on the sidelines of the Arab Air Carriers'

Organization General Assembly in Rabat.

About 25% of the order will consist of wide-body aircraft,

with the remainder being narrow-body jets, Addou said without

disclosing any detail on the value of the tender.

RAM expects to receive an average of 15 new aircraft

annually from 2028. In the interim, the airline will introduce

up to 13 aircraft per year, primarily through leasing

arrangements, Addou added.

The fleet expansion is part of RAM's strategy to strengthen

its position as a regional hub carrier, connecting Africa with

Europe and the Americas via its Casablanca base.

Separately, Morocco has launched a tender for a new airport

terminal that will increase passenger capacity to 35 million by

2029, up from the current 10.5 million, according to national

airports authority ONDA.
