05:47 AM EST, 12/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- RTX's (RTX) Raytheon UK said Wednesday its high-energy laser weapon system completed a live-firing trial with the British Army, targeting moving aerial threats.

The company said that the trial was conducted at a military range in Wales and was part of the Ministry of Defence's land laser-directed energy weapon program.

British soldiers operated the system using its advanced sensors and tracking technology, which works by directing a powerful beam of energy at the target to track and neutralize targets accurately in real time.
