RTX, Nightwing Group Agree to Pay $8.4 Million to Settle Allegations Over Cybersecurity Requirements
May 25, 2025 11:33 PM

12:19 PM EDT, 05/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- RTX (RTX) and Nightwing Group agreed to pay $8.4 million to settle claims they failed to comply with certain cybersecurity requirements when working for the US Department of Defense, the Justice Department said Thursday.

The Justice Department alleged RTX's former subsidiary Raytheon Cyber Solutions violated the False claims Act by failing to implement cybersecurity controls when performing unclassified work on certain Department of Defense contracts.

The violations allegedly occurred between 2015 and 2021, prior to Nightwing's acquisition of RTX's cybersecurity, intelligence, and services business in 2024, the Justice Department said.

The Justice Department added that its claims were allegations only and there had been no determination of liability.

RTX did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

Big Deal: The blurring lines between offline and online businesses

Big deals are emerging in the liquidity-flushed tech and digital space boosted by two primary reasons. The second being the hunger of the unicorns to become decacorns of the future by beefing up the businesses, especially ahead of their IPO prep work as the investors have been very generous in ascribing them high valuations. So the outcome is that we are now transitioning into an evolved business model of omi-channel approach and the lines between the off-line as well as the online businesses are blurring fast.
