08:48 AM EDT, 10/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- RTX (RTX) said Thursday that its unit, Raytheon, has been awarded a $736 million contract by the US Navy to produce AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles.

The US aerospace and defense company said the contract covers the enhanced Block II variant, which includes hardware upgrades to improve performance and long-term reliability.

Production will take place in several locations across the continental US and is expected to last until 2029, the company said.
