06:45 AM EDT, 04/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- RTX (RTX) said Friday its Pratt & Whitney unit won European Aviation Safety Agency certification for its new engine powering Airbus A320neo aircraft.
The upgraded propulsion system delivers up to 8% more takeoff thrust and is scheduled to become the manufacturing standard by 2028, the company said.
Existing operators will have access to a durability upgrade package later this year during routine maintenance visits, RTX said.
Pratt & Whitney is directing nearly $1 billion toward a North Carolina turbine factory alongside $200 million for a Georgia forging site to expand production capabilities, RTX added.
