Apr 8, 2025 5:20 AM

07:56 AM EDT, 04/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- RTX's (RTX) Pratt & Whitney business said Tuesday that it has developed a new additive manufacturing repair that will reduce process time by over 60% for critical GTF engine components.

The company said the new technology allows for the repair of GTF structural case features using a 3D printing method, eliminating several steps in the current repair process.

According to the company, it is working on industrializing the new additive repair process for deployment to its global GTF maintenance, repair and overhaul network.

With the implementation of additive repairs, Pratt & Whitney said it expects to recover parts worth $100 million over the next five years.
