Ryanair to Reduce Brussels Winter Capacity After Belgium Moves to Raise Aviation Tax
Mar 10, 2026 9:53 PM

07:01 AM EST, 12/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Ryanair ( RYAOF ) said Tuesday it will reduce its 2026/2027 winter schedule in Brussels after the Belgian government decided to double the country's aviation tax to 10 euros ($11.64) per departing passenger from 2027.

The carrier said it plans to reduce about 1 million seats, cut five based aircraft, and 13 routes from Charleroi and 7 from Zaventem.

Ryanair ( RYAOF ) said the measures follow a series of access-cost increases, including a 150% hike introduced in July.

The company said it has written to national and regional officials seeking reversal of the planned tax increases.
