Ryanair's Vienna-bound Flight Diverts to Brno Over 'Minor Tech Issue' With GPS System, Low Visibility
Dec 31, 2024 4:33 AM

07:16 AM EST, 12/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ryanair ( RYAOF ) flight to Vienna from Riga was diverted to Brno in Czechia on Monday due to a "minor tech issue with the GPS system combined with low visibility" in Vienna, the air carrier told MT Newswires in an emailed statement Tuesday.

Die Presse reported Tuesday that Ryanair Airbus A320 aircraft had experienced GPS disruption over Poland and diverted to Brno after two landing attempts at Vienna.

According to the report, such GPS disruptions usually resolve automatically but this did not happen during the approach to Vienna and poor visibility made landing without GPS unsafe.

Ryanair ( RYAOF ) said the aircraft landed safely in Brno and passengers were transported by coach to Vienna.
