06:08 AM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sandisk ( SNDK ) and Kioxia said Monday that they have begun operations at the Fab2 semiconductor fabrication facility at the Kitakami Plant in Japan's Iwate Prefecture.
Fab2 can produce 218-layer 3D flash memory to meet demand for storage driven by AI.
Production capacity at earthquake-absorbing Fab2 will ramp up over time, with "meaningful" output expected to begin in H1 2026, the company said.
Shares of the company were up 2.3% in recent premarket activity.
