Sanofi Closes Sale of Controlling Stake in Opella to CD&R

03:00 PM EDT, 04/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Sanofi ( SNY ) said Wednesday it has closed the sale of a 50% controlling stake of its consumer healthcare business Opella to private equity firm CD&R for net cash proceeds of around 10 billion euros ($11.35 billion).

The healthcare company said it retains a 48.2% stake in Opella, with investment bank Bpifrance holding the remaining 1.8% stake and joining the board.

Sanofi ( SNY ) said it is now a "pure-play biopharma" after the divestment.

The company's shares were up 1.8% in recent trading on Wednesday.
