10:55 AM EDT, 04/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Sasol ( SSL ) said Monday that South Africa's minister of forestry, fisheries and the environment has upheld its appeal over sulfur dioxide emission regulation involving steam plants at its Secunda Operations.
The company said the minister found its application for an alternative emission regulation to have met all the requirements, thus setting aside a National Air Quality Officer decision to decline the application.
The South African energy and chemical company said the minister allowed load-based limits to regulate the emissions, instead of concentration-based limits. The load-based limits will be applied from April 1 next year to March, 31 2030, the company said.
Sasol ( SSL ) shares climbed by nearly 9% in recent US trading.
