Scotiabank Previews Friday's Labor Market Report in Canada
Oct 10, 2025 5:31 AM

08:06 AM EDT, 10/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Canadian Labour Force Survey (LFS) will be the main event across Scotiabank's footprint markets on Friday, with the release at 8:30 a.m. ET.

It's the last job report before the Bank of Canada's next decision Oct. 29.

Consensus is highly incomplete for some reason, with only nine entries to Bloomberg's survey and missing entries from several major shops, said the bank.

Estimates are all over the map for a noisy household survey that has a 95% confidence interval of more or less 57,000 around estimated monthly changes in employment, stated Scotiabank.

The highest is a gain of 20,000 with the lowest being a loss of 50,000 -- provided by Scotiabank -- and a median estimate that is basically flat at 5,000. Four estimates are negatives and five are positives, but only two of those five are meaningfully positive, added the bank.
