Seanergy Maritime Agrees to Acquire Two Capesize Newbuilding Vessels, Sell Older Vessel
Mar 12, 2026 7:20 AM

10:04 AM EDT, 03/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Seanergy Maritime ( SHIP ) said Thursday it agreed to acquire two Capesize vessels for $158 million and sell a Capesize vessel for $29.5 million.

Seanergy said it will acquire a scrubber-fitted 181,500 deadweight tonnage Capesize newbuilding vessel, to be constructed at a first-class shipyard in Japan, from an unaffiliated party in the country, for delivery between Q2 and Q3 of 2027.

The company said it has also entered into a 10-year bareboat-in contract for a second similar vessel, to be constructed by the same shipyard, with delivery expected in Q1 of 2029. Seanergy said it has the option to acquire the vessel starting at the end of year five until the end of the charter period.

Seanergy said it has also agreed to sell the M/V Squireship, a 2010-built Capesize vessel constructed in South Korea with a cargo capacity of 170,018 deadweight tonnage, to United Maritime, with delivery expected between the end of April and the beginning of June.

The transaction is expected to generate net cash proceeds of about $13.5 million after the repayment of associated debt, the company said.
