07:45 AM EDT, 07/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The US Securities and Exchange Commission sued the former head of the blank-check company that helped Donald Trump's Trump Media & Technology Group ( DJT ) for securities fraud, media outlets reported Thursday.

Patrick Orlando, former chief executive of Digital World Acquisition, is being accused of making false and misleading statements by failing to disclose that his company planned, before its initial public offering, to merge with Trump Media & Technology Group ( DJT ), news outlets reported, citing the suit filed in federal court in Washington.

Trump Media ( DJT ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
