08:51 AM EDT, 04/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were edging higher pre-bell Monday with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) advancing by 0.3% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) up 0.2% recently.

Vista Outdoor ( VSTO ) shares were up more than 6% after the company said it is engaging in talks with MNC Capital and has advised the latter to increase its proposed takeover offer for the company. MNC Capital offered to acquire Vista on March 25 for $37.50 per share.
