01:37 PM EDT, 06/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed Friday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) shedding 0.2% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) fractionally higher.

In corporate news, GameStop ( GME ) on Friday reported lower fiscal Q1 sales on an annual basis amid the trading frenzy surrounding its shares. Separately, Keith Gill, better known as "Roaring Kitty" on YouTube and X, showed his positions in the company during a YouTube livestream on Friday. He holds 5 million shares and 120,000 call options. GameStop ( GME ) shares were falling more than 41%.
