01:31 PM EDT, 06/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were edging up Friday afternoon with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) increasing 0.1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) rising 0.2%.

In corporate news, CarMax ( KMX ) posted better-than-expected fiscal Q1 results, while macroeconomic hurdles continued to damp the used-vehicle retailer's sales. The shares eased 0.1%.
