08:51 AM EDT, 08/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were advancing pre-bell Wednesday, with The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) up 0.8% and The Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) 0.6% higher.

Target ( TGT ) shares were up past 16% after the company reported higher fiscal Q2 adjusted earnings and revenue in addition to raising its fiscal 2024 non-GAAP income forecast.
