08:45 AM EDT, 09/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were edging higher pre-bell Friday as the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) was up 0.1% and the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was gaining 0.2% recently.

Nike ( NKE ) shares advanced by over 8% after the company said Elliott Hill will rejoin Nike ( NKE ) as chief executive officer, effective Oct. 14.
