01:26 PM EDT, 05/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were lower Wednesday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) decreasing 0.2% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) down 0.3%.
Redbook US same-store sales rose by 6.1% from a year earlier in the week ended May 24 after a 5.4% year-over-year increase in the previous week.
In corporate news, Stellantis ( STLA ) shares were down 2.6% after the automaker said Wednesday it appointed Antonio Filosa as its new chief executive, effective June 23. Before the appointment, Filosa served as chief operating officer of the Americas and chief quality officer, the company said.
