03:18 PM EDT, 08/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed late Wednesday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) rising 0.6% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) shedding 0.9%.

In corporate news, Estee Lauder ( EL ) on Wednesday guided earnings for the current fiscal year below Wall Street's estimates and warned of a $100 million hit from tariffs, as its results for the just-ended quarter fell year over year. Its shares fell 4.8%.
