Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Advance Pre-Bell Friday

09:19 AM EDT, 08/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were advancing pre-bell Friday, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLP ) 0.3% higher and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLY ) up 0.2%.

Under Armour ( UAA ) stock was down more than 19% after the company said it expects a revenue drop in fiscal Q2 and issued guidance for the quarter's adjusted earnings per share below analysts' expectations

Flutter Entertainment ( FLUT ) said it has entered into arrangements with Davy Securities to buy back up to $245 million of ordinary shares from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares of Flutter Entertainment ( FLUT ) were down more than 3% premarket.

Best Buy ( BBY ) plans to expand the headcount at its Indian tech center by over 40% in the next few months, Reuters reported, quoting Nithya Subramanian, senior director data & AI COE at Best Buy ( BBY ). Shares of Best Buy ( BBY ) were up 0.3% pre-bell.
